Design Work

I started building websites back sometime in late 1999, September I think.   My first website was located on Angelfire.com, which ironically, I ended up working for five years later.   Looking back on it, my first website was terrible.   I remember not knowing how to turn off the border on images, and ended up just changing the link colors to match the background of my page.   I’m glad I learned the right way to do things.

I now do enough design work professional to consider myself a “designer”.   There’s hardly a time when my PC doesn’t have Photoshop and FTP open, uploading something.   My PC setup is fairly intense; 2.4Ghz Quad Core Intel processor, 32GB PC6300 RAM, 5.1 Audio, NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS (768MB onboard memory, running Dual Samsung 19″ LCD monitors), Logitech Mx Revolution wireless keyboard and mouse.

Over the years, I’ve taught myself a number of things with design, and coding.   My current skills include the following:

  • PHP & MySQL
  • HTML
  • DHTML
  • Pure CSS Design
  • Javascript
  • Java
  • AJAX
  • CGI/Perl
  • PostgreSQL

I’ve also become extremely familiar with a number of web-development-like applications, such as:

  • Adobe Illustrator (Versions 5  - CS4)
  • Adobe Pagemaker (7.0)
  • Adobe InDesign (2.0)
  • Macromedia Dreamweaver (Versions 3 – CS4)

  • Apple Operating Systems: Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard
  • FTP: SmartFTP, Leech FTP, Cute FTP, WS_FTP Pro, Win SCP, Cyber Duck, Leech
